Installing GlobalProtect for Windows
This article covers installing the GlobalProtect client on Windows devices. Before installing the GlobalProtect client, please make sure that your device meets CSU's Minimum Technology Standards. Please install a version of the GlobalProtect client provided by CSU; the version of GlobalProtect found on the Microsoft Store may be unable to connect to gateway.colostate.edu or pueblogateway.colostate.edu. Use your web browser to connect to the GlobalProtect web portal downloads page. Click the download link appropriate for your version of Windows. If your Windows device has a 64-bit processor, click "Download Windows 64 bit GlobalProtect agent". This is the most common version of Windows. If your Windows device has a 32-bit processor, click "Download Windows 32 bit GlobalProtect agent". This version is common on older devices. If your Windows device has an ARM processor, please submit a help request asking for the GlobalProtect ARM installer. This is common on Surface and other tablet devices. To determine your device's processor type, open "About your PC" and check the "System type". Open the installer once it has finished downloading, and proceed through the installation. Once GlobalProtect has finished installing, you can open it from the Start menu. Enter gateway.colostate.edu or pueblogateway.colostate.edu as the Gateway Address and click the Connect button. Before the GlobalProtect client can finish connecting, you will need to authenticate with Duo. When GlobalProtect says "Connected", you may now use the VPN. GlobalProtect Script Error: An error has occurred in the script on this page
This document covers troubleshooting an error with the GlobalProtect client for Windows. Symptoms Use this article if you receive a Script Error popup that reads "An error has occurred in the script on this page" when attempting to connect to GlobalProtect. If you receive a Script Error popup that says "Exception thrown and not caught" and "Object doesn't support property or method 'addEventListener'", refer to this article instead. Resolution Open Internet Options. It can be found by searching the Start menu. If you are unable to modify your device's Internet Options, please contact your department's IT support staff. On the Security tab, click the "Trusted sites" zone, then click the Sites button. In the "Trusted sites" popup, paste the following into the field labeled "Add this website to the zone": https://sso-0954f67e.sso.duosecurity.com Click the Add button next to the field, then click the Close button in the "Trusted sites" popup. In Internet Options window, click the Apply button followed by the OK button. Try connecting to GlobalProtect again. This document covers troubleshooting an error with the GlobalProtect client for Windows. Symptoms Use this article if the GlobalProtect client produces the error "Could not connect to the GlobalProtect service. Make sure the GlobalProtect service is running. If the issue persists, contact your administrator" when you click the Connect button. Resolution Open Startup Apps. Find GlobalProtect in the list of startup apps and confirm that its switch is set to On. Allowing GlobalProtect to start with your computer will not automatically connect you to the VPN; you will still need to open GlobalProtect and click the Connect button. If you changed this setting, reboot your computer. Try connecting to GlobalProtect again. If the error persists, follow these instructions: Uninstall GlobalProtect, and install it again from scratch. If prompted to allow GlobalProtect to start automatically, do so. Reboot your computer. Try connecting to GlobalProtect again. Symptoms Use this article if you receive an error that reads "The virtual adapter was not set up correctly due to a delay. GlobalProtect will try again soon" when attempting to connect to GlobalProtect. Resolution Open Command Prompt as an administrator. If you are unable to open an administrative Command Prompt, please contact your department's IT support staff. Run the following command: net stop winmgmt Run the following command: winmgmt /resetrepository Reboot your device, then try connecting to GlobalProtect again. If the issue persists, please try the following: Open Command Prompt as an administrator. If you are unable to open an administrative Command Prompt, please contact your department's IT support staff. Run the following command: net stop winmgmt Open Explorer and navigate to Windows\System32\wbem. Rename the folder "Repository" to "Respository.old". In your administrative command prompt, run the following command: net start winmgmt Reboot your device, then try connecting to GlobalProtect again. GlobalProtect for Windows continuously attempts to connect

Symptoms Use this article if the GlobalProtect client continuously attempts to connect even after failing, and the PanGPS.log file contains a line similar to the following: "Failed to open file C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\Palo Alto Networks\GlobalProtect\PanPUAC_*.dat". Resolution Uninstall GlobalProtect. Delete the contents of the folder C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\Palo Alto Networks\GlobalProtect\ Remember: The "%Username%" above corresponds to your Windows username. Symptoms Use this article if the GlobalProtect client produces the error "The network connection is unreachable or the gateway is unresponsive. Check the network connection and reconnect" after you authenticate with Duo. Resolution Delete the file starting with "PUAC" from the directory C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Palo Alto Networks\GlobalProtect. Attempt to connect to the GlobalProtect client. If this does not resolve the issue, delete all DAT files from the directory C:\Program Files\Palo Alto Networks. After performing these steps, the GlobalProtect client may begin to show the error "The virtual adapter was not set up correctly due to a delay. GlobalProtect will try again soon."
