This document covers troubleshooting an error with the GlobalProtect client for Windows.

Symptoms

Use this article if you receive a Script Error popup that reads "Exception thrown and not caught" and "Object doesn't support property or method 'addEventListener'" when attempting to connect to GlobalProtect. If you receive a Script Error popup that says "An error has occurred in the script on this page", refer to this article instead.

Resolution

1. Open Internet Options. It can be found by searching the Start menu.
   • If you are unable to modify your device's Internet Options, please contact your department's IT support staff.
2. On the Connections tab, click the "LAN settings" button.
3. In the "Local Area Network (LAN) Settings" window, uncheck "Use automatic configuration script", then click the OK button.
4. In the Internet Properties window, click the Apply button.
5. Try connecting to GlobalProtect again.
