GlobalProtect VPN
GlobalProtect is a virtual private network (VPN) that provides secure and encrypted access to CSU resources. Users are required to use GlobalProtect to access certain CSU systems and services from off-campus. Access to the GlobalProtect VPN is provided for academic or university business needs only. It does not provide access to services such as Netflix that may be inaccessible or altered in foreign countries. GlobalProtect does not allow connections to non-CSU resources via a CSU IP, save for a few specific exceptions, which are not added without a clear and specific business case. Social media, YouTube, etc. will not be added to the split tunnel. GlobalProtect is not required to access academic journals provided by the Colorado State University Library. You may access SciFinder without connecting to GlobalProtect. To access other journals from off-campus, please use BrowZine. How do I get started? There are two ways to use the GlobalProtect VPN: The GlobalProtect web portal (gateway.colostate.edu or pueblogateway.colostate.edu depending on your campus) can be visited via your web browser, but only provides access to a limited number of resources and applications. The GlobalProtect client application provides access to a broad range of CSU resources, but must be installed on your device. For information on installing GlobalProtect, see the page that corresponds to your device: Installing GlobalProtect for Windows Installing GlobalProtect for macOS Installing GlobalProtect for Linux Installing GlobalProtect for iOS and iPadOS Installing GlobalProtect for Android and ChromeOS Both methods of connecting to GlobalProtect require Duo authentication. Support If GlobalProtect does not work as expected, please search our Knowledge Base for possible solutions. If you require additional assistance, please submit a help request.

Requesting Help with GlobalProtect
This article explains how to request assistance with the GlobalProtect VPN. Troubleshooting Please review the following before submitting a help request: If you cannot log into the GlobalProtect web portal, please try accessing it with a different browser. If you cannot install the GlobalProtect client, make sure that the GlobalProtect installer is saved to your device (not to DropBox, OneDrive, etc.) and that you are opening the installer with your device's file browser (i.e. Explorer, Finder, etc.), not from Teams or the web browser downloads manager. If you are unable to connect to GlobalProtect, make sure that the gateway address “gateway.colostate.edu” is spelled correctly. If you are using a Windows device with an ARM processor, please request the GlobalProtect for Windows ARM installer. If you are unable to authenticate with Duo, check that there is not an ongoing Duo outage. If you are having trouble connecting to GlobalProtect on your home network, please try using another network to connect. GlobalProtect is known to be incompatible with Xfinity public WiFi; you must connect to a different network instead. If the above steps do not solve the problem, please search our knowledge base for possible solutions. Support If the problem is not covered by a knowledge base article, please answer the following questions when submitting a help request for assistance with GlobalProtect: What is your NetID? What is your device's operating system (OS) and version? If you are using a Windows device, does your device have an ARM processor? Are you able to log into gateway.colostate.edu or pueblogateway.colostate.edu in your web browser? Are you able to log into other Duo-protected applications or services, such as Microsoft 365 or RAMweb? If you need assistance with the GlobalProtect client: Where did you get the GlobalProtect installer? Which version of the GlobalProtect client are you using? To check your GlobalProtect client version, open GlobalProtect and click the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) in the upper right corner, then choose About from the dropdown menu. Are you using the GobalProtect command line interface? When did you begin experiencing this issue? What have you already tried? Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling GlobalProtect? Did you try rebooting your device? Please generate and send us a GlobalProtect log bundle. If you do not provide a log bundle, we may not be able to help you. To generate the log bundle in Windows, macOS or Linux, open GlobalProtect, click the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) in the upper right corner, then click Settings in the dropdown menu. In the GlobalProtect Settings dialog, go to the Troubleshooting tab and click the Collect Logs button. To generate a log bundle in iOS, iPadOS, Android or ChromeOS, tap the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) in the upper left corner, then tap Help. In the Help menu, tap Troubleshoot, then enter an email address to which to send the log bundle.

Download the GlobalProtect VPN Client to Access HR Portal
This article covers installing the GlobalProtect client on Windows and Mac devices to access the CSU Human Resources Portal. The VPN must be installed to access the HR Portal and complete Benefits enrollment. Download the GlobalProtect Client Use your web browser to access the GlobalProtect Software page. Under "CSU - GlobalProtect Client Software Downloads", click the download link appropriate for your version of Windows or Mac. For Mac users, click "Download Mac 32/64 bit GlobalProtect agent". Only install this version of GlobalProtect. Do not install GlobalProtect from the Apple App Store if you are not using an iPhone or iPad. If your Windows device has a 64-bit processor, click "Download Windows 64 bit GlobalProtect agent". This is the most common version of Windows. If your Windows device has a 32-bit processor, click "Download Windows 32 bit GlobalProtect agent". This version is common on older devices. If your Windows device has an ARM processor, please submit a help request asking for the GlobalProtect ARM installer. This is common on Surface and other tablet devices. To determine your device's processor type, open "About your PC" and check the "System type". Open the installer once it has finished downloading, and proceed through the installation. Note: if you have issues downloading or installing the client, please contact your local IT support. Note: For Windows users, continue to step 7 For Mac users, open the installer once it has finished downloading, and proceed through the installation. On the Installation Type step, be sure to check the box next to "GlobalProtect System extensions". The GlobalProtect client will not work if you do not install this system extension. For Mac users, once GlobalProtect has finished installing, you can open it from Spotlight. When you open the GlobalProtect client for the first time, you may be prompted to modify your Mac's security settings. The GlobalProtect client will not work if you do not follow these prompts. Then proceed to step 8 For Windows users, once GlobalProtect has finished installing, you can open it from the Start menu. Enter gateway.colostate.edu or pueblogateway.colostate.edu as the Gateway Address and click the Connect button. Before the GlobalProtect client can finish connecting, you will need to authenticate with Duo. When GlobalProtect says "Connected", you may now use the VPN. Navigate to the Human Resources Portal Once connected, open a web browser and go to https://aar.is.colostate.edu/ Click the "Human Resources Portal" link on the right-hand side menu. Log in with your NetID and password, and authenticate with Duo if needed. Click to expand the "CSU Employee Self-Service" drop-down menu. Select "CSU Benefits" to get started.
