Installing GlobalProtect for macOS
This article covers installing the GlobalProtect client on macOS devices. Before installing the GlobalProtect client, please make sure that your device meets CSU's Minimum Technology Standards. Use your web browser to connect to the GlobalProtect web portal downloads page. Click "Download Mac 32/64 bit GlobalProtect agent". Only install this version of GlobalProtect. Do not install GlobalProtect from the Apple App Store if you are not using an iPhone or iPad. Open the installer once it has finished downloading, and proceed through the installation. On the Installation Type step, be sure to check the box next to "GlobalProtect System extensions". The GlobalProtect client will not work if you do not install this system extension. Once GlobalProtect has finished installing, you can open it from Spotlight. When you open the GlobalProtect client for the first time, you may be prompted to modify your Mac's security settings. The GlobalProtect client will not work if you do not follow these prompts. Enter gateway.colostate.edu or pueblogateway.colostate.edu in the Portal field and click the Connect button. Before the GlobalProtect client can finish connecting, you will need to authenticate with Duo. When GlobalProtect says "Connected", you may now use the VPN. Symptoms Use this article if you are unable to connect to GlobalProtect using the macOS client and cannot find a more specific knowledge base article, or if running "netstat -an | grep 4767" in Terminal returns no results. Resolution Uninstall the GlobalProtect client from your Mac. Refer to this article on how to install GlobalProtect on macOS, being sure to check the box next to "GlobalProtect System extensions" on the Installation Type step and follow any Security prompts to allow the GlobalProtect or Palo Alto Networks system extension as they appear.
