GROUP-T05: User not Available in Grouper
Description
This is a troubleshooting guide to address potential causes for a user not be available in Grouper.
Error message when adding a user to a group: Value entered is not valid!

Instructions
Confirm that the user is being selected from the prepared dropdown.
Type in the user's name or NetID. (Note, NetID is the most reliable)
Click on the user in the dropdown options. Grouper requires that you choose the account from the populated list it creates when you search for a user. If you click out of the search bar before Grouper loads the list for you to choose from, it will give you the error you saw (in the screenshot).
If the user does not come up in the search drop down list, try searching using the 'search for an entity' link.
Type in the user's name or NetID. (Note, if you choose too broad of a search, not all options will be returned. NetID is the most reliable, or First Last name)
Click Search.
Click on the user in the results.
If the user does not come up in the search drop down list, try searching using the universal search bar in the top-right portion of the webpage.
Type in the user's name or NetID. (Note, this search should return all matching users and groups. If you use a broad search term like First name only, it may take a minute to load the results)
If the user is returned in the results:
Click on the user in the results
Note their NetID which is listed as Unique ID under the user's name
If the user is not returned in the results:
This user may not be loaded into Grouper as a subject. To be loaded, the account needs to be active in LDAP. Service accounts may or may not be in LDAP based on how they were requested. If this is for a service account, confirm that LDAP functionality is enabled or request that it is added by submitting a request in Freshservice: https://csusystem.freshservice.com/a/catalog/request-items/90
Once you have / have confirmed a NetID (that has an active LDAP account), try adding the user again using instructions in 1 and 2.
If you are still unable to add the user, submit a ticket through Freshservice
