NetID Life Cycle
The NetID account life cycle includes stages from creation to activation and expiration.
Your current and past CSU affiliations determine your NetID's state and which CSU systems you can access.
When your NetID's state changes or is scheduled to expire, you will receive an email notification with further instructions.
Applicable to:
- Current and former Fort Collins and Pueblo applicants, students, faculty, staff, and associates
Prerequisites
- You must have established NetID eligibility.
- Your NetID must have been created by Admissions, the Registrar, or Human Resources.

Email Access
Description and Access
Awaiting Activation
No
Your NetID has been created but not activated.
You are eligible to activate your NetID and email account.
Active Account
Yes
You have activated your NetID account and can log in to the NetID website.
You have access to CSU email and other systems based on your campus and affiliation(s) (applicant, student, faculty, staff, associate).
Expiration Cycle
Yes
You are no longer affiliated with CSU as an applicant, student, employee or associate. See below for expiration cycle duration.
You can still log in to the NetID website and access your CSU email and cloud drives (Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace for Education).
You will no longer have access to many other CSU systems.
Expired Account
No
After your CSU affiliation ends, you must reestablish an affiliation to access email or other CSU systems.
Manual Disable
No
Your account has been manually disabled by a NetID administrator.
Contact the Help Desk or the Human Resources representative of your department for more information.
