NetID Life Cycle

Description

The NetID account life cycle includes stages from creation to activation and expiration.

Your current and past CSU affiliations determine your NetID's state and which CSU systems you can access.

When your NetID's state changes or is scheduled to expire, you will receive an email notification with further instructions.

Current and former Fort Collins and Pueblo applicants, students, faculty, staff, and associates

Prerequisites

You must have established NetID eligibility.
Your NetID must have been created by Admissions, the Registrar, or Human Resources.

Life Cycle State

Email Access

Description and Access

Awaiting Activation

No Your NetID has been created but not activated.
You are eligible to activate your NetID and create your email account.

Active Account

Yes You have activated your NetID account and can log in to the NetID website.
You have access to CSU email and other systems based on your campus and affiliation(s) (applicant, student, faculty, staff, associate).

Expiration Cycle

Yes You are no longer affiliated with CSU as an applicant, student, employee or associate.
You can still log in to the NetID website and access your CSU email and cloud drives (Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace for Education).
You will no longer have access to many other CSU systems.

Expired Account

No Your NetID is automatically deactivated on the expiration date. You can no longer log in to any CSU systems.
After your CSU affiliation ends, you must reestablish an affiliation to access email or other CSU systems.

Manual Disable

No Your account has been manually deactivated by a NetID administrator.
Contact the Help Desk or the Human Resources representative of your department for more information.

How to view your NetID Life Cycle state

If your NetID has been activated and has not expired, from the NetID website, select Menu > My Account > Show My Information and log in with your NetID.
If you are a NetID administrator, select Menu > Admin > Person Search, look up a person by name, email address, CSU ID, or NetID, and click their name in the results.
Scroll down to the NetID Account Status section to view your NetID Life Cycle State.

Expiration Dates

Scroll down to the NetID Change Dates section to view the date your NetID expires, if any.
