Instructors: How to create Echo360 embed codes to insert into your Canvas course
Instructors can add embed codes to videos and audio files in their EchoVideo library to their Canvas course sections for access by students.
An embed code is an HTML iframe tag that creates a window of content with a specified pixel width and height within a web page such as a Canvas module, assignment or discussion post.
For videos, the browser will include basic video player controls.

Prerequisites

Log in to your Echo360 account.

Upload or locate videos or other media in your Echo360 library.
Instructions

Hover over video thumbnail and click on the pink ellipsis icon (three dots...), and click Share.
OR: Click the Course tab, click your course, find the video, click the video symbol, select Details, and click Share.

Click the Embeds tab and click the Create Embed button.

Choose desired settings (Start At, Player Size, Autoplay, Automute, Description).

Start At timecodes in a longer video can be set to start anywhere in the video and direct viewers to a specific start place. The video still plays to the end.

Toggle Public access to off (left) for Canvas use.

Click Copy to save the embed code to the clipboard.

Click Done.
To embed your Echo360 video into Canvas,

Open your Canvas course.

Edit a page with the Rich Content Editor.

Click the Embed (cloud) icon from the Insert menu or the toolbar. Check the Options menu (3 vertical dots) if it is not visible in the toolbar.

Paste the embed code into the Embed Code field and click the Submit button.

Click the Save button to save your changes.
Public and Private settings
Use Private links whenever possible.
- Private links require login using CSU System NetID and password.
- Private links track valuable analytics on individual student video usage.
- Canvas linked courses use private links by default.
Use Public links if you wish to share with colleagues or anyone not affiliated with the University.
- NetID login is not required. Anyone with the link can access the video.
- No usage data is collected.
