Add Microsoft Teams Link to a Blackboard Ultra (Instructors)
Use this method to create a Teams meeting link within Blackboard Original courses until the new Microsoft Teams tool is made available in Blackboard.
If you are an instructor at CSU Pueblo, are no longer using Zoom for your courses, and need to utilize Teams as an alternative video conferencing platform; this article walks users through how to add a Microsoft Teams meeting link into a Blackboard Ultra course. This article is specific to the Ultra course view. View this support article if adding Teams to a Blackboard Original course.
Prerequisites
Add Microsoft Teams Link to a Blackboard Ultra Course
As the instructor, the Teams meeting link can be added into the Blackboard Ultra course wherever is preferred (for example, in the Getting Started or Course Resources folder, or in its own separate folder). This article covers how to add the link into the general Course Content area. Once the link is created, it can easily be moved into any other folder or learning module in the course.
Find the "New Link" Item in the Course
- Hover over the gray line in the Course Content area until it turns purple, indicating that content can be added.
-
Click the purple line to open the drop-down menu for content options.
-
Select "Create".
- From the Create Item menu, click "Link" from the list of Course Content Items.

This will add a new Content Area at the bottom of the course menu. Click and drag this menu item so it appears higher in the course menu and is easily visible to students. Then, click the Content Area to open it.
Create a Web Link and Add the Teams Meeting Link
- In the New Link window, keep Web Link selected.
-
Enter the name of the web link.
-
Copy the URL of the created Teams Meeting.
-
Paste the URL into the URL textbox.
- Ensure that the option for "Open in New Window" is set to Yes.
-
Add a description if needed, for example, if the meeting link is for one time use, or if it is a recurring meeting link that can be used multiple times.
-
Click "Save".

Now the instructor and students will be able to click this link from wherever it was created within the course, open the Teams interface, and join the scheduled Teams meeting.
