Recovering/Resetting Your NetID Password

This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to reset your NetID password using your non-CSU recovery email address. If you do not remember your NetID password, you will complete a process to update it.

Applicable To:

• CSU System, Fort Collins, Pueblo, Spur
• Students, Faculty, Staff, Associates, Applicants, Retirees, Emeritus

Prerequisites

• You must have a registered non-CSU recovery email address associated with your NetID account.
• Duo authentication configured for your account (if prompted during recovery).

Instructions

To recover your NetID password, follow these steps:

1. In a browser, navigate to https://netid.colostate.edu/recover.aspx
2. Enter your NetID and provide your non-CSU recovery email address.
   • If you don't remember or need to change your recovery email address, please contact Admissions, the Registrar, or Human Resources.
3. Check the box next to "I'm not a robot" and click Send.
   • An email will be sent to your non-CSU recovery email address.
4. Log in to your non-CSU recovery email account.
5. In your non-CSU recovery email account, open the email message from NetID@colostate.edu with the subject line NetID Account Recovery Request.
   • Click the link in the message, which starts with https://netid.colostate.edu/token.aspx?token=.
6. A new browser window or tab should open. Enter your NetID and click Continue.
   • Authenticate with Duo if prompted.
7. Review the password requirements, then enter and confirm your new password.

8. Click Save. Once you have successfully saved your new password, your account will be updated, and you should be able to access your account using the new password.
   • This updates the password used for your CSU email account and all CSU System logins that use your NetID.
