GlobalProtect unexpectedly disconnects without warning
This document provides generalized troubleshooting for unexpected GlobalProtect disconnection. If GlobalProtect disconnects around 24 hours after your most recent Duo authentication, please see this document instead.
Symptoms
GlobalProtect disconnects unexpectedly after connecting successfully. This may be immediately after authentication, or after a period of less than 24 hours.
Resolution
In most cases, this is indicative of a network connection problem. Please try the following:
- Ensure that your internet connectivity is not also interrupted when GlobalProtect is interrupted. GlobalProtect cannot function without an ongoing internet connection.
- Ensure that the device is connected to only a single network (e.g. either WiFi or ethernet). If the problem persists while using that network connection, try the other.
- Ensure that the device has only a single DNS server configured. Improper DNS configuration can prevent GlobalProtect from connecting consistently.
- Disable all other VPN or network proxy software. These can interfere with GlobalProtect.
