Replace Personal Computer or Mobile Device
If you are a student and an outdated device is preventing you from completing an assignment, please visit your department's or college's information technology (departmental IT) to learn about computer labs or computer check-out availability.
This guide provides suggestions for replacing a device that does not meet the CSU System Acceptable Use Policy. Before replacing a device, please verify it's necessary:
- Check if you can Update Device OS (Operating System)
- If you are unable to update your device OS to a current version, please review this article to see options for replacing your device.

Computers
CSU Fort Collins

CSU RAMtech may have employee/student discounts for new devices.

CSU Surplus may have computers available for purchase. Please note that the available devices are of varying age and it is your responsibility to confirm your purchased device uses a currently supported Operating System.

Note for Windows: Unfortunately, due to licensing constraints, Windows based computers do not have an operating system installed on them. Due to these restrictions, CSU Surplus is not allowed to install a Windows operating system on any computer.

CSU Pueblo
- Pell Grant recipients at CSU-Pueblo who reside in Pueblo County may be eligible for assistance to pay for a laptop. Please see CSUP Adelante Connect to learn more.

Mobile Devices/Cell Phones
All Campuses - Hardware Tokens/Security Keys
- Until you replace an outdated device, you may consider purchasing a hardware token to complete Duo Multi-Factor Authentications.
- Different vendors sell hardware tokens for different prices (such as Yubicon). These are generally available for purchase online. Ensure the hardware token you purchase meets the requirements to use Duo Multi-Factor Authentication with the CSU System.
