Connecting to RSTOR from a Mac and creating a desktop shortcut
How to access RSTOR storage from a personal or CSU/CAS-owned Mac and create a shortcut on your desktop.

Prerequisites
- You must be on the CSU network (via ethernet or CSU-NET wireless), or
- You must be connected to GlobalProtect VPN if you are off campus.
- You need to know your <unique_lab_id>, which is provided by CASIT during RSTOR setup.
Connect to RSTOR from your Mac

Open Finder, click Go in the top toolbar, then select Connect to Server...

Type the RSTOR server address in the Server Address field using the format:
smb://campusrstor1.onefs.colostate.edu/cas/<unique_lab_id>

Click the + button to add the server to your Favorite Servers list.

Select the server you just added, then click Connect.
- When prompted for credentials:

Name:
colostate\your_netid
-
Password:
your_netid_password

(Optional) Check Remember this password in my keychain if on a secure, personal device.
You are now connected to RSTOR and can access it through Finder.
Create a desktop shortcut to RSTOR (optional)

Open Finder, click Finder in the top menu, then select Preferences.

Check the Connected servers checkbox.
- A server icon labeled with your
<unique_lab_id>
will now appear on the desktop.

Right-click the icon and select Make Alias.
- The alias (shortcut) will now appear on the desktop.

(Optional)Rename the alias to something more descriptive:

Right-click the alias, then select Rename.

Return to Finder > Preferences, then uncheck the Connected servers checkbox to remove the temporary icon.
Outcome
After completing these steps, your Mac will be connected to RSTOR storage, and you’ll have the option of using a shortcut on your desktop for easier access. For assistance, email AgHelp@colostate.edu.
