Fixing audio issues for TV cart in IHHI simulation lab
How do I fix audio problems on the TV cart used in the IHHI simulation lab?
Applicable to: Pueblo
Affiliation: Faculty, Staff
Prerequisites
Ensure the TV cart is powered on and connected to the appropriate device (e.g., computer, laptop, or simulation system). Check that the HDMI cable is fully plugged in on both ends.
Instructions
-
Turn on the TV and ensure the source input is set to the correct HDMI port (typically HDMI 1 or 2).
Verify that the connected device (computer) is also powered on.
Check the volume on the TV. Use the TV remote and press the Volume Up button to ensure it's not muted or too low.
-
Open the audio settings on the connected computer or device:
On Windows: Right-click the speaker icon, select Open Sound settings, and confirm the output device is set to the correct HDMI output.
On Mac: Go to System Preferences > Sound > select HDMI as the output.
Check that the HDMI cable is fully plugged in on both the TV and the connected device.
Disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable to ensure a solid connection.
Test the audio by playing a video or sound file.
-
If audio still does not work:
Use the remote and press the Menu button.
Navigate using the arrow keys to select System Settings.
Go down to Sound and select it.
Scroll down to Sound on Video Call and make sure Current Source is selected.
If the HDMI audio option (AV/HDMI) is greyed out, it usually means the Sound on Video Call setting is not set to Current Source. Update this setting to restore audio output.
Outcome
These steps will help you resolve most common audio issues with the TV cart in the IHHI simulation lab. Adjusting the system audio settings via the remote ensures HDMI sound is recognized correctly by the TV.
