Integrating Pearson Content to Blackboard Original Courses
The following information provides instructions on locating and activating LTI tools and content from third party publishers like Cengage, Macmillan, McGraw Hill, and Pearson into a Blackboard course using the Original course view.
About Third Party Publishers
Instructors have the option to use third party publishers to add textbook chapters, assignments, quizzes, and more content into their courses digitally. The process for integrating a course with a publisher’s content varies by publisher. Additionally, with the transition from Building Blocks to LTI, REST API, and cloud integrations; it is important to make sure the content is integrated into courses correctly so that instructors and students can access it without difficulty. If an instructor experiences issues with integrating their course to Blackboard, please submit a support ticket to IT. More specific questions about third party publishers and their content should be directed to the support staff for the selected publisher.
Pearson
The Pearson tool currently available in Blackboard is the Pearson LTI 1.3 version of the tool for MyLab and Mastering. To integrate Pearson content into a Blackboard Original course, start by creating a new content area in the sidebar or folder in the course specifically for the Pearson integration.
Here's an example of a new content area in the course sidebar:

After navigating to the desired content area or folder in the course, pair the publisher content by following these steps:
-
Hover over the Tools area to open the drop-down menu.
- From the Tools drop-down menu, click More Tools [1].
- In the additional menu that appears, click Pearson LTI 1.3 [2].

- Review or change the Pearson LTI 1.3 Link Name [3] if needed.
- Optionally, enter a description of the item [4] for students.
-
Click Submit [5].

Once the content is submitted, a purple success bar should appear to indicate that the link has been created, and the Pearson logo and LTI link will be visible in the Content Folder.

When an instructor clicks this link, it will ask them to Open Pearson to access their Pearson content (see image below). From here, the instructor will be directed out of Blackboard and to the Pearson website. If issues are experienced after this point, please contact Pearson Support.

If the Pearson LTI 1.3 link displays in the course content, Pearson has been successfully integrated into the course!
