Installing YuJa Panorama in Blackboard Original (Instructors)
About YuJa Panorama
YuJa Panorama is a digital accessibility platform that can be installed in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge browsers and connected to Blackboard to provide accessibility scores and reports for course content to instructors, and students can choose to see content in different formats for easier access.
Add YuJa Panorama to the Blackboard Course Menu
To access and install YuJa Panorama in browsers and courses, instructors must create a Tool Link in the menu of a Blackboard course.
If there is not a current item in the course menu labeled “Accessibility Tool”, instructors will need to add it to the course menu by completing the steps listed below.
- Navigate to the plus sign in a circle icon at the top of the course menu (1)
- Select Tool Link (2)
- Enter Accessibility Tool as the Tool Link’s Name (3)
- Open the Type drop-down list
- From the list, select Panorama (4)
- Select the “Available to Users” checkbox (5) to display the tool in the course menu
- Click submit (6)
- Move the added tool link to the Bb Student Tools content section
Install the YuJa Panorama Browser Extension
NOTE: YuJa Panorama recommends only installing the browser extension on CHROME, FIREFOX, and EDGE browsers for the best performance.
As an instructor, if YuJa Panorama has not already been installed in the browser, complete the steps listed below to install, activate, and use YuJa Panorama to evaluate the accessibility of course content.
- Open a Blackboard course
- In the course menu, click the “Accessibility Tool” link
- In the new tab that opens, complete the three steps from YuJa Panorama to complete the installation and connection of the tool:
- Click the provided link to install the Panorama Browser Extension
- After installation of the browser extension is complete, click the provided button to connect the Browser Extension
- Receive the successfully connected message from Panorama before returning the the Blackboard course
Once the success message “Successfully connected to Panorama Browser Extension” appears, YuJa Panorama will be active in the browser, but the tool will need time to evaluate and process the content in the courses before it generates an accessibility assessment and alternative formats view.
Use YuJa Panorama to Improve Course Content
As the accessibility assessment of courses and course content becomes available, an icon of a person inside a circle will appear next to course content that has been analyzed by Panorama.
Clicking this icon opens the accessibility report and score for the selected content and provides a list of the different formats that Panorama can convert the content into. More information on understanding accessibility reports and improving accessibility scores is available here.
