The CSU Federation provides a secure framework for shared management of access to resources within the CSU System. It offers single sign-on convenience and privacy protection, while Service Providers control access to protected resources. This article provides an overview of the CSU Federation, including metadata and self-service management tools.

CSU Federation Metadata
All Identity Providers and Service Providers in the CSU Federation are published in a CSU Federation Metadata file.
- Production Metadata File: CSU Federation Metadata
- Test Metadata File: CSU Test Federation Metadata
Access Requirements:
- Campus (CSUP or CSU) connection required to access or retrieve metadata
CSU Federation Self-Service Tools
The CSU Federation Manager allows Service Providers to implement federated identity management.

Recommended Practices
When setting up a new Service Provider:
- Test configurations against the CSU test federation and test identity provider before using production resources.
- Once the configuration is stable, switch the setting in the CSU Federation Manager to production.
